GEI Event: 80th anniversary of the UN and the 70th Anniversary of Italy’s Membership in the UN
New York, May 20, 2025- As part of our 50th anniversary events celebrations, which began exactly a year ago, we co-organized with the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations an extraordinary panel discussion on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations and the 70thAnniversary of Italy’s Membership in the United Nations.
The Panel addressed the following objectives:
1) The Evolving Dynamics in Global Affairs: We examined the increasing changes in international relations.
2) New Challenges: We Identified the major features of the systemic challenges posed to the United Nations system in its three areas of action: peace and security; sustainable development; protection and promotion of human rights.
3) Propose Actionable Solutions: We discussed possible initiatives that can be taken to support multilateralism in such a challenging environment.
