GEI Lunch with Richard Haass

Exactly one week after Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, Mario Calvo-Platero, President of GEI, discussed Trump’s policies, initiatives, and the structural changes in international relations with Richard Haass during a GEI Lunch at the Racquet and Tennis Club (370 Park Avenue).

The conversation focused on the Russia-Ukraine war, the situation in the Middle East, the potential effects on Europe, and the broader implications for the global economy. Mr. Haass also reflected on another sensitive topic: artificial intelligence and the ongoing competition between the United States and China in the field of AI.

Richard Haass, a former administration official, veteran diplomat, and respected scholar of international relations, is the president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, where he served as president for twenty years. He is currently a senior counselor with Centerview Partners, an international investment banking advisory firm.
